Figs always feel like summer to me. They remind me of when I we were little.
Today’s share is a simple dessert made with figs baked into them.
These figs are a wonderfully easy dessert. They are a delightful treat that makes an uneventful weekend dinner special.
When is the fig season in full bloom?
The season for fresh figs is twice a year: the short season in early summer and the long season from late summer to early fall. They grow best in warm climates. Most figs in the United States are grown in California, but they are often available in supermarkets.
What type of figs should I use for this recipe?
I always use black figs for this recipe, they are the most common figs found in supermarkets and they are also the sweetest figs and have the most flavor, so they are the best choice for this recipe.
When buying figs, avoid those that look shrunken and dried out, or have obvious signs of mold. Most figs look a little battered, which is fine, but avoid those with liquid oozing out.

Can I make the Honey Roasted Figs ahead of time?
You can make these figs earlier in the day and store them in an airtight, room temperature container until serving. Add toppings at serving time.
How to store leftovers
You can store any leftover roasted figs (without toppings) in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the oven or serve cold. They are also delicious served cold for breakfast the day after a dinner party.
