‘Sam & Max Save the World!’ Remastered Xbox Edition: A Comprehensive Review

1 Mins read

To be completely honest, I’ve never even touched a point and click adventure game in over twenty years.
Sam & Max hit the Roadwas my first entry into the sub-genre of gaming back in the 90s, during my PC phase. It was followed immediately by Day of the Tentacleand Full Throttle.

After a long time of playing console games, such as first-person RPGs and shooters with faster paces, I was prepared for a more subdued journey down memory lane when it came to the remastered version of Sam & Max Save the World by Telltale.

Skunkape’s updated first-class features and entertaining storyline, while primarily driving me, kept me on my way to a relaxed, chill gaming experience.

The dynamic duo, Sam and Max – the dynamic anthropomorphic canine and rabbit thing, Freelance Police, with their penchants for violence and witty remarks – are on the case again! The case this time involves washed up former child actors and hypnosis, which will lead them to New York’s mean streets as well as the White House Moon…and then back again! The self-contained episodes that are likely to take you two hours to complete each one, will reveal a larger conspiracy than would have made Bosco happy.

You’ll be exploring places, talking to nutballs, and examining objects to find clues for the puzzles that you must solve to advance. Solutions usually require you to use items from your inventory.

In the beginning, you may have to do a great deal of backtracking and trial-and-error, but as soon as you master the game mechanics, it becomes second nature. Puzzles have satisfying and fun endings that keep you interested. There’s a hint button that shows you what you can do if you get stuck.

Sam & Max Save the World is a simple game, but it’s bursting with irreverent, colorful characters. Its sharp dialogue and dark humor will take you on a journey without ever leaving your mother’s basement. Although not outright funny, it is impossible to play through the game without smirking or smiling.

This is an easy buy if you are a Steve Purcell fan. Sit back and relax while you play Comic Book if this is your first time.
